You can achieve anything you set your mind to here – the possibilities are endless!

Come and join the future of NZME. Give it your all and enjoy the ride because this could lead anywhere.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

- Drive the food and drink content strategy for Viva Premium and Viva’s weekly magazine. You will also help produce the food pages of Reset magazine and provide food-related content to the wider NZME brands where required.

- You will be brimming with innovative and fresh ideas about the people, places, stories, and trends shaping the hospitality scene in Aotearoa and beyond. You will write, produce and commission first-class food content for our multi-media platforms, including interviews, longform features, video and social media.

- Think strategically to help drive subscription and audience growth, including developing new projects that win audiences and create commercial opportunities.

HOW YOU'LL DO IT:

- Demonstrate excellent judgement to generate unique, compelling content that meets the needs of our audience.

- Work closely with the Viva editor and editorial team, along with the wider newsroom, commercial and marketing teams, communicating and collaborating to a high standard.

- Find and develop innovative ways of delivering food content to new and existing audiences across multiple platforms, with a particular focus on innovative premium content and commercial offerings.

- Think audience-first, using analytics and research data to understand and respond to what audiences want.

- Be an excellent team player.

- Maintain strong networks and public profile to represent NZME in the food sector and wider community.

ABOUT YOU:

- Considerable experience in the food/lifestyle environment at a major media organisation.

- You will know about the newest restaurant in town before it opens, as well as what will be on the menu. You will also be able to name the signature dish of the winning eatery in Viva's Top 50 Restaurant Awards of 2022, and pull together a list of the top ingredients for 2023.

- Strong feature writing abilities that capture the zeitgeist around food trends, and have the top names of the hospitality industry on speed dial.

- High quality sub-editing skills are a must, and quickly being able to identify if there is an ingredient or step missing in recipes.

- Comfortable with the daily demands of a busy newsroom across print, digital and broadcast platforms.

- You will be innovative, skilled at thinking laterally and creatively, and be able to handle the pressure that comes with managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

- You will foster a culture of excellence and inclusion, and will think strategically and with a vision to the future. - You will also just love food, and sharing that passion with Viva’s audience.
